Rose... by any other name couldn't be so sweet
In February Pryor's Planet received a frantic email from a young lady in College Station, TX. A small pit had made herself home on her front porch, desperately trying to stay warm in what was a very, very cold Texas night.
Tiffany put out a blanket for her, a small heater and some food. The pit gave her lots of love for her kindness. It was obvious the pit had been on her own for quite a while. She looked half starved and all banged up. Although Tiffany was a full time student and had a very busy schedule she would try to find her owner or find her a good home over the next week.
Sadly, the next day Tiffany's neighbor came over and threatened to shoot the dog if it wasn't gone in one day!
Tiffany blasted an email to anyone and everyone she knew in the animal community. Jennifer (Pryors Planet) heeded the call and contacted Cathy in Texas.
There was no way Jennifer, Cathy or Tiffany were going to let someone shoot ANY DOG! A few phone calls later Tiffany and Rose (christened by Tiffany because of her pink nose and gentle personality) were on a 3 hour drive to San Antonio!

When Rose arrived she was sweet but seemed mostly week and tired. She broke your heart.
She was left in the care of a trusted veterinarian, given medical treatment, a special diet and a full health check up and antibiotics. Several people, including Pryors Planet, contributed to her Vet bills. The Vet gave them a discount as well because he was so taken by the effort that was made clean around the country for this one precious dog!
When Rose was picked up from the vets just 4 days later the difference was night and day. She was far more active, already appearing like she had more weight on her and her eyes were bright!
Cathy and her daughter drove Rose to a local shelter that Jennifer works with (Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch). The drive was very pleasant. Rose sat in the back as quiet as can be. Getting up and looking out the window now and then. Stops were made on the way and she behaved like a lady!
Rose was in good hands at Utopia. Rose took to her new location immediately and gave a good tail wag in approval! (Lots of hugs and kisses too! no kidding... when we picked her up she wrapped her front legs around our necks and gave us big kisses!) Leaving her was sad only in that Cathy and Chantel would have adopted it if they didn't already have a pack of their own! (Tiffany said the same thing!)
Rose was adopted in May by a wonderful and loving family in Austin and given her new name ... We all love you ROSANA DANA!
Rose's story is another example of how we can all come together with a little effort and a little money. We can make a difference!

She sat while some business was conducted for almost 15 minutes with only the one command!
Rose took to the leash very well. Other dogs and animals too!
