BIGGIE's Story
Updated 07/30/2006

Regarding Biggie's rescue, it really was a joint effort as so many people helped me save the funds to buy him at auction.
When I initially decided I wanted to rescue him I thought I would only need about $2000-2500. However, when he won the grand champion at the OC Fair I quickly realized I was way over my head. I had no idea how much he would go for but I was still shocked at the final price of $4770, plus $200 for hauling. To summarize, I was able to raise nearly $5000 in just 4 days, an amazing feat I think!
In my wildest dreams I only thought I could squeeze a mere $300 from my small circle of friends. However, the mission took on a life of its own and here we are, all safe and happy.
I was also able to save a Hog at the auction, who was another resident at the house I kept my horse. Her name is Lucy and she is going to a new home tomorrow.
My goal in all this is to eventually buy a farm where both Biggie and Lucy can reside with me, for the rest of their natural lives.

Hello Friends,
I know this is a bit overdue but I still wanted to take the opportunity to express, to each and every one of you, my deepest gratitude and appreciation for all the support you have provided in saving Biggie's life. Biggie is now safe in his new rescue home and doing very well. He is getting acquainted with his equine neighbors, as well as pig or two, while also adjusting to some serious "leg room" which he had never experienced before this weekend.
The auction went well overall and I did learn a thing or two about the 4-H program. I realize Biggie is just one of thousands of lovely creatures facing slaughter every day and it pained me to walk away from so many doomed animals.
I'm not sure why but Biggie really did touch so many people. I cannot tell you how many emails and phone calls I received last week expressing compassion and affection for him. I never, ever thought my story would have the impact it did but I'm overwhelmed with joy at the results. So again, thank you all for everything you've done in making this happen. This has truly been a group rescue and we are all responsible for his survival.
Again, thank you all so much for everything. I'll never forget, and will always appreciate, the wonderful people who helped give Biggie the life all animals deserve:)) I hope you are as thrilled as I am!
